COVID-19 – We Are Open!

What a blessing to be together on Sunday! While it was not “church as we know it,” there is nothing like being in the presence of God together. Thank you for your cooperation with the protocols and guidelines established by the pastors and deacons to minimize the risk of coronavirus exposure to you and maximize our chances of staying open now that we have re-opened the church for public services.
Beginning July 9, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett has mandated that masks be worn at all times when groups are meeting indoors, and even outdoors when it is not possible to be socially distant. This means masks will have to stay on throughout the worship service. According to the Indiana Department of Health, pastors and worship leaders will not be required to wear masks while engaged in ministry. This is an encouragement!
Admittedly, worshipping with a mask is unpleasant. So is keeping our distance from each other and leaving the sanctuary right after church. As far as seating, families with members in different houses, but are together regularly, may sit together. Please review the letter sent out by Leroy Butler, the chairman of our deacons, sent out June 24. These protocols and procedures will be continually evaluated and revised as time goes on. Please pray for the pastors and deacons as we meet regularly to do just that.
We believe it is easier to be strict now and ease our restrictions later, than the other way around. Thank you for your willingness to do your part to make our reopen a success moving forward. We will trust you to use the best possible judgment in support of our efforts to keep everyone safe during this difficult time in our world. As Leroy said, “We ask everyone to show grace and love to each other and surely God will be glorified.”
All for God’s glory,
